The Deadrise

It's good.. casual, nothing fancy. Small, crowded, noisy. It's your typical marina food spot. I feel like prices are a bit high considering it's more like a dive than a nice restaurant. The marina view isn't that pretty but I still prefer to sit outside. Recently had a great waiter..Matt.

I loved this place! It is a great place with nice waterfront views and quiet atmosphere outside on the two different levels of the deck. It had a nice craft and imported beer selection as well as some fresh mixed drinks. The seafood was amazing! The crab dip was flaky without being too fishy and crab sandwich had fresh ingredients along with a sweet Hawaiian roll bun. The scallops were the best I have had on the east coast so far.

Where else do you see this every day? The steamed schrimp are some of the best in the area. This is great laid back atmosphere with spot on service. If you are wanting to impress a date or enjoy a night out with your buddy's this is the place.

The decor very seaside chic and the fish tacos were really good.

Great seafood restaurant. The fried flounder and shrimp were fantastic, as we're the crab cakes and hush puppies. Our server was friendly just overall great. If you enjoy seafood, definitely try this place.

My boss took us their for a holiday lunch today, 12/19/19. I ordered the pan-fry crab cake and vegetables. The crab cake was horrible, thrown on the bun, and not even a full crab cake. It was more of a half-crab cake. The veggies were raw which could’ve been steamed and lightly seasoned. I’m glad I didn’t have to pay for the meal.

Wonderful seafood restaurant at the water's edge in Fort Monroe. In terms of interior decor the place has a local dive feel to it. I got the impression that a large portion of the people eating there were locals and possibly even regulars to the restaurant. Food and drink selection is extensive but not overwhelming. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Since this is a seafood place, seafood is the obvious choice. I opted for a blackened crab-cake sandwich - delicious. Although they are not a brewpub, they have enough beers on tap to please most people. I want to go back in the spring or summer when the outside would be more available. If you haven't eaten here already, try it out. You probably will not be disappointed.

What a great little restaurant in Fort Monroe National Park. You're sitting at the marina, you can watch the sunset, and have fresh seafood, good company, and friendly wait staff. They are also very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. Only problem is everybody wants to sit outside, and there is not enough room but for a very small number of course. We did not get too. Maybe next time we go back.

Always fresh and incredible Seafood! They have weekly specials and very friendly staff. A quaint establishment right off the water. I was fortunate to have gone during the time where they had one of my favorite beers on tap

Our family of 5 had a great experience at Deadrise for dinner last night. We ordered take-out. The staff was very welcoming, the kids enjoyed playing outside, and the food was absolutely worth the wait. Thank you so much! We will be back. In the meantime, I will continue to fantasize about the delicious, blackened crab cake sandwich I had....

Neat atmosphere and very friendly staff. Excellent crab bisque that I will get again on my next visit. I had the scallops which were prepared perfectly, overall a great dish. I will dine there again, soon.

Super fresh and delicious food! Today they brought our dog a bowl of water without being asked. Very kind and considerate! Definitely make this a regular stop. :)

Service is a joke. Wife and I sat at the bar with 6 other people up there total and there were 2 bartenders. 20 minutes without even being asked if we wanted a drink. The bartenders just sat chatting with a rich old guy the whole time. When we were seated we sat without anything for almost 10 more minutes. We walked out. We went to "stuft". Amazing service there.

Never had a bad meal here. The place is great, tucked away right on the water. I've come here by boat and by car! The seafood is always fresh!

Great food and great view! The oysters and clams were cooked perfectly. Much of the seafood is fresh and local. This is our second visit and both times have been great. Patrick R. was a fantastic server-knowledgeable about the food as well as beer and wine.

Super accommodating service. We were in the area sightseeing so we had our dog along and needed to eat outside. Even though it was cold, they happily took care of us. The food was great, the portions were large and the service was friendly.

We ate here a few weeks ago because my daughter had just been and highly recommended it. We have since gone the second time. I cannot say enough about the fun outdoor atmosphere. The seafood has been excellent every time. So far we've had fish tacos made with rock fish and the rice and beans that are to die for, oyster Po Boy that my friend said was the best ever, the seafood burrito, yummy, huge and filled with scallops and shrimp and enough to feed 3 people. Friends we were with had the crab cake and tuna steak. All were raved about. Casey our server was attentive and very sweet. Their Orange Crushes are the best I've ever had and believe me, I've had plenty of them other places. If you go be sure to sit outside, fun to watch the bridge tunnel activity. If you're into fancy this place is not for you, if you like excellent, no frills seafood then you will love it. We cannot wait to return!

Above-average seafood, as befits its Chesapeake Bay Norfolk-area location. Gracious above-average service, as well. Well worth a visit.

Always a great experience here, even if you miss sunset. The entrees are all amazing and the fries never disappoint. Decent selection of beers and their cocktails are creative. Have been here many times and will continue to come!

A great little hole in the wall. It took an hour to get a seat but it was Saturday night and they had a group that was on 3 of their tables that lingered for an hour after they had finished eating so I will not blame the restaurant for the wait. Once we were seated the service was prompt and friendly. The food made it worth the wait. They burrito was on point and you must not pass on the hushpuppies. They were crunchy and delicious. They also have a good selection of local brews. Their prices are very reasonable for this quality of seafood.

I’ve been here 5 times and each visit was different. So happy I found a mostly reasonable priced seafood place with a view and the option for outdoor seating! My four stars is due to the bartenders literately rolling their eyes when I asked for a mojito. I know it’s not the easiest drink to make but not the point. Then when I got it, it was the worst one I had ever had. Just unprofessional. Everything else about this place is pretty awesome and their food is delicious! The salmon burger is one of my favorites!

Food is great. Outside deck area is nice, but the sunlight right comes your face at sunset time, so could be too bright. But little later, the shiny sunlight turns to mellow and beautiful. It's nice place to have a nice dinner.

The place is great. The food was delicious and decently priced. My all time favorite cheeseburger comes from that restaurant. The presentation was as good as the taste.

They have great service and a quiet location with water views and plenty of parking. The food was well seasoned, and they have a good mix of fried, broiled, and baked entrees - including salad and lighter fare. The prices are also reasonable, and the fish was fresh. I will come back here next time I am in Hampton.

The shrimp is the best that I have had. Wait staff was very friendly and professional. Entrance a bit of a struggle (I can't walk up stairs), but they have an elevator at the back

With only 12 tables, the wait was kinda long on a Saturday night, but the food was well worth the wait. The flounder and shrimp basket came with a huge piece of fish, a couple of fried shrimp, a ton of really great fries, hush puppies, and coleslaw; a full two meals worth of food.

Very casual atmosphere, would be awesome in the warmer months as they have a deck. Everything was delicious, drinks, meal, and dessert.

Absolutely phenomenal. Service is straight and to the point, and the prices are very kind for the portion you get. The seafood always taste fresh! I visit here every time I get a chance for lunch or dinner. I recommend visiting this restaurant if you are headed to Fort Monroe. You get to sit outside and enjoy the bay, or sit inside at the bar or table. Highly recommended if you are a seafood lover! (My favorite meal is the Grilled Salmon BLT 😍)

This was our 1st visit to the Deadrise. We had to wait about an hour to be seated. The food was well worth the wait. We went with 2 friends and they enjoyed it as much as we did.
